Maui Family Photography Pricing and What to Wear

Maui family photography  is one of my favorite things to do. I have four wild kids myself so I am used to chaos and joy and love and the craziness that is family life.

Lifestyle/Family Plans:

All plans include an online gallery and free instant digital downloads of full resolution images.

Plan 1 – $575

A 20 minute “mini” session of your family.  Fast and furious, I manage to capture the essence of your family quickly and painlessly.  See examples here on my blog.  The mini session is available on the West side only (lahaina, kaanapali, kapalua).

Plan 2 – $975

My most popular plan – the one hour family shoot.  We can shoot at a location of your choice, beaches are popular, fields, or at my indoor studio, a variety of posed and candid images of your family or extended family.

Plan 3 – $1400

A great choice for large groups or lifestyle sessions or where you want alot of candids, the two hour photography session.  On this session, I can even go with your family on a excursion or activity to capture your family as it is, or head to the beach for some posed group shots and family shots and candids in between.  The extra time allows for extra creativity and perfect for extended families with lots of people.

No travel charges (except for Hana and Haleakala) and no per person charges.

My prints are professional printed on high quality professional grade matte papers.  Many  print sizes and products are available in my online shopping cart.    Other products include DVDs, custom albums, frames, enlargements, acrylic prints, and canvas wraps.

Thanks for thinking of me as your Maui family photographer.

Now — what to wear, what to wear, what to wear….

on your Maui family photography session.

The best advice I can tell you is to show up as yourself.

By that I mean, dress as your style. Be you. Do not wear matching white shirts if you don’t walk around town like that.

Basics: don’t dress a whole group in white, don’t wear black.

Pick one or two colors for the group and go off that with everybody doing their own take on it — examples, blue/green, all blue, white and pink.. etc.

Be comfortable and feel good about what you are wearing. Let your teens wear what they like. That is how you want to remember this time. Put your kids in their favorite clothes or swimsuits.

Don’t match. Sure, coordinate the colors if you like. Try not to clash. Look in the mirror as a group before you walk out the door. If we are shooting on the beach, you will probably get wet. I love colors. I love stripes. Don’t be shy.

For women:  I always suggest a shirt/dress with sleeves or with a light cardigan.  Arms look better with clothes unless you are a kid.   Showing alot of flesh can be distracting.

Places to get cute clothes on Maui:

For everyone:  The surf shops — Quiksilver, Billabong, Volcom, Pacific Sunwear, Local Motion, HIC.   Very cute, very beachy, not expensive.

For women + girls: Sand People and Blue Ginger at Whalers Village.   Jeans Warehouse in Lahaina Cannery Mall.

Of course lots of clothes can be found at the Kaahumanu Mall in Kahului — Macy’s, American Eagle, Forever 21 and surf shops.

But there is no need to drop a load of cash. You probably have what you need in your suitcase already.  Your favorites.
