Ha. Sarah + Matt went on vacation and brought his whole family. Or perhaps Matt’s family went on vacation and brought along Sarah. But honestly, I think Sarah headed it up so Matt’s family tagged along. They came right after the New Year. Can you tell?

They had a blast. I know this because they were having a blast at 9 a.m. on our shoot and I have no reason to believe the whole vacation was not like that. A fun fun family. And Sarah fits right in.

This is my kind of shoot. Because Sarah knows me well, she trusted me. She let me drive around in the car and pull over to take a photo where ever I wished.. whether it was at a lunch truck (couldn’t resist the pink) or a fun colored wall. And while it looks like nobody dressed up, there was actually alot of thought into the clothes. I LOVE casual. I like people to look like themselves. But colors are fun. My favorites are when she is wearing the yellow shirt.. look how pretty with the sun in the fields. These were taken in the pineapple fields behind my house, at the beach, and some odd little places in between.

Yep that’s how its said in Maui. The other side beach. Or Kanaha for us since we live on the West side and have to travel an hour to Kanaha. But its a fabulous and often empty beach. Right next to the airport. Here is 3 of mine plus my soon to be godson. Missing the oldest one of mine. He’s too much of a teenager to play with the little ones at the beach these days. Soon they all will be too old for this. Better save the memories now while I can.

Its always a challenge to get as much diversity on a roll of film as I can. So I went for a short walk in Paia with my friend Amber and this is what I came up with. 1/2 roll on the Canon. I just love living in Hawaii. Love the colors and everything about it.

On Style Me Pretty wedding blog today

Rachael and Jake make me happy. They have been my couple of 2011. First they modeled for me for an engagement shoot which turned out so nicely Rock and Roll Bride featured it. Then we did an inspiration wedding shoot which was featured on Style Me Pretty. Finally I shot their real wedding which was absolutely beautiful and fun. And now that is on Style Me Pretty today. And through all of that, they have to be the most laid back, genuinely nice, and giving couple I have ever shot. They gave me a present at their wedding. For real.

I have a joined a group of Hawaii photographers in a monthly challenge. We pick a topic or technique for the month and then once a month post our photo and link to each other in a big circle. It keeps us trying new things and moving ahead.
