Ajja DeShayne is a fellow photographer here on Maui. So I was super happy and honored when she asked if I would shoot some portraits of here for her website.
Im almost 100% sure that the above is not what she meant, but hey its me, right?
Only kidding, the polaroids are for me. We did the photoshoot on Saturday, so the film is off to the mainland to get developed by some film ninjas out in Utah (where apparently all the cool kids live these days — who knew?)
And she had no idea what she was getting into when I asked her to shoot MY family. I asked her to use my camera, in the pitch dark, with one light on and shoot almost guerilla style while my four crazy (just no other word for it) kids rode skateboards, scooters, and bicycles around in circles and fell, cried, fought and ran away. Our family portrait will be interesting to say the least. I hope she isn’t scarred by the experience.
So thank you Ajja. And I know you are used to instantaneous photos, but I hope you find that film is worth waiting for.
More to come,
P.S. Isn’t she just so cute? I adore her dresses with pockets. Just perfect.
P.P.S. So for the geeks among you… shot with a polaroid 600se, fuji 100c film, negative bleached and scanned. On the top one, I washed away the gooey stuff and on the bottom one I left it. I like it there.
